One Night Revolution First Impressions

One Night Revolution! Have a Revolution for one night.

Not a Werewolf or Vampire in sight.

One Night Revolution is a super fast game of secret identities for 3 to 10 players that combines all the deductive and chaotically fun elements of the One Night Ultimate Werewolf series with more structured game play. The result is a very addictive game that is easy to learn and will be played over and over again.

The main difference between this and Werewolf/Vampire is that your role is either Good (Rebel in Blue) or Evil (Informant in Red) and is given to you on a card, with 3 cards in the middle as usual.

Your ‘Night Action’ is given to you via a Specialist card with a description on it.

At night, starting with the start player,  each player takes their action in turn order saying “Task Complete” when done to prompt the next player to take their go.

Actions

The actions you have can change depending on if you’re a Rebel or Informant. This leads to interesting discussions in the Day phase as some Rebel actions can incriminate you even if you’re being honest.

For example, I was the Signaller who taps a player on either side on the shoulder in the night phase as a Rebel… But as an Informant, they only tap someone who is an Informant. I was a Rebel but as I tapped a suspected Informant,  I was put in the ‘possible Informant’ category.

Another difference is that once the night phase is over, each player in turn order claims a role token and states what they did. They can lie about it of course but this gives an opportunity for people to have their say.

Something missing from Werewolf and Vampire where some players won’t say anything and others will talk over people constantly.

Everything else works the same. While no app is required I do miss having a timer running. We used our phones but it wasn’t the same.

One Night Revolution Summary

If you have ONUW or ONUV (Update: or ONUA or ONUSV) you don’t need this BUT it’s a good alternative. Especially if you can’t have the Werewolf app running or you won’t be able to hear it if it was.

Glad to own this one though, it sits nicely on the shelf with the rest.
