Main Mechanisms

A dice placement auction that leads to area control. The other half of the game is resource management and engine building.

USP

The fantasy theme, while not unique, is the selling point of the game along with the cute artwork.

Theme

The theme is an odd one, but very cute, if not slightly dystopian, if you think too hard.

Setup & Rulebook

Setup is a tad fiddly, made harder by the fact that the components only just fit in the box.

The rulebook is fine, but more, clearer examples are needed.

Components & Artwork

All the basic components are fine and do the job.

I backed the Kickstarter, and the ‘deluxe’ dice and cubes don’t really match the colours for some players.

The iconography is good, and the art is really cute.

Ease of Teaching

As with a lot of games, the actions and gameplay are very easy. However, there are many area tiles and industry tiles that need to be explained

Then, of course, there are a load of building cards that need clearing up as the game goes on.

Similar Games

Ethnos and El Grande do area control in different ways.

Sweet Lands has a much more complicated game behind resource management, with a cute theme.

Compania Review

Positives

A nice look with cool art.

Simple gameplay.

Easy-to-understand cards and tiles.

A quick game once you know what you’re doing. $ phases, 3 can be done simultaneously…

Negatives

…which does lead to a bit of multiplayer solitaire after one high-intraction phase.

The end game point spread can be in the 100s!

The Kickstarter deluxe components are disappointing.
