Snakesss First Impressions

Snakesss is a Q&A game where players just need to give the right answer.

But the snakes around the table are trying to cast doubt.

The group has a multiple-choice question and only two minutes to work it out. The snakes amongst you already know the right answer — and they’ll stop at nothing to keep you away from it.

Snakesss Game Play

A hidden role game where a multiple choice question is placed on the table. Players are secretly either a Human, a Snake or the Mongoose of Truth.

The snakes secretly see the correct answer to the question. There is then a discussion where players pick an answer. The snakes are trying to get players to pick the wrong answer of course.

Snakesss Components

The Mongoose of Truth has no other purpose other than the human players know for sure they are not a Snake.

Players simultaneously reveal the answer they think is correct, A, B or C. Snakes reveal a Snake token.

Humans and Mongoose players get 1 point for each Human/Mongoose that got the answer correct, unless they themselves got the answer wrong then they get nothing. The Snakes score 1 point for each Human/Mongoose that got the answer wrong.

Whoever has the most points after 6 rounds is the winner.

Theme

Snakes are evil we all know this. Mongoose hunt snakes I believe? But here it feels like the Mongoose is on the defensive.

I’m overthinking it.

Setup

Shuffle the roles and deal them out. Easy.

Components & Artwork

Very nice tiles and a decent and unneeded Mongoose wooden thing.

Ease of Teaching & Accessibility

Very easy to teach. As with any game like this payers making errors can ruin a round. But you can always restart one.

Snakesss Summary

This is the same as games like Werewords, except if a Human/Mongoose player knows the answer then any table talk is useless. Snakes won’t be able to change their mind no matter what they say.

The whole point of these games is to add doubt so the Werewolf/Cyclon player has something to work with, this game doesn’t have it.

Unless you have one snake purposefully challenge another snake aggressively and have one stand their ground on the wrong answer? But then, it doesn’t mean it’ll work.

Neither does the game to be honest, not in this genre.

Also, this is one of those games that some groups or players will play so much they’ll memorise cards.

A game for a board game cafe or convention, not for a collection.
