Dwar7s Winter Solo Playthrough

Dwar7s Winter sees players using Dwarves to kill monsters and overcome disasters.

They all do it together, but who will do it best?

You built and defended your kingdom, and now that winter is here, you need to battle the harsh elements and chillingly scary monsters.

Dwar7s Winter is a hand-building, resource management game with tower defence elements in the gameplay. Each player wants to achieve more victory points, but the only way to survive the winter is to work together.

While Dwar7s Winter is a sequel to Dwar7s Fall, it is an independent, standalone.

Dwar7s Winter Summary

The Blurb already said this was a sequel of sorts to Dwar7s Fall. But to me, it’s closer to Covil: The Dark Overlords which is also from Vesuvius Media.

So this is effectively a Tower Defence game, I don’t have one of them at all never mind a semi-coop one. When they come to mind (I haven’t played Castle Panic) I think of Carnival Zombie. That is a fun creepy action point allowance fully coop game.

The most direct comparison is Tiny Epic Defenders which was awful. Dwar7s Winter is better than that but the game and gameplay is quite similar. You use action points to go around the board putting out fires.

The components are nice and the artwork is as great as always for a Vesuvius Media game.

The ‘puzzle’ of defending the tower is a good one. You have a ‘resource’ of Dwarves and you need to use them well. Once they’ve done a thing, they go and you need to take action points to get them back on the board. Then you need to move them into position.

It’s not easy.

The card play and deck building is a good idea too. You can’t just buy the best cards because if they don’t fit into your deck you might not get to play them. If you do, you might only play one card instead of 2-3.

All in all, it is a ‘decent’ solo game but there is a tonne of other options I’d rather play in the limited solo gaming time I have. Well, solo gaming time is usually spent on the PC, PS4 or Switch.

So, is it a good multiplayer game? We will see.
