Spots Board Game First Impressions

Spots Board Game Box

Roll dice and hope you get stuff.

Then die on the inside.

Spots is a casual push your luck game.

Spots Game Overview

Quick Rules Summary

Everyone has 2 dog cards.

You do one of two things on your turn:

Do a Trick, select a tile in the middle of the table and follow the instructions. Most involve rolling dice and placing them on the dogs in your play area.

You can also gain treats that you can spend to reroll your dice.

If you can’t, or don’t want to place a die on your dogs it is buried in your yard. If the total of dice in the yard is over 7 you bust. Remove all dice from your dogs.

The other option is to score dogs, put all your dogs filled with dice in your score pile and draw more dogs.

How do you win?

The first player to score 6 dogs wins.

Spots Play Area

Main Mechanisms

Dice rolling and push your luck, that’s it. It’s not a very in-depth game here, just dice rolling.

Theme

<sarcasm>Dogs have spots… ha ha ha. It’s so funny and works so well!</sarcasm>

Setup

Tiles out, Dogs out, Dice out. It doesn’t take long.

Components & Artwork

The tiles are nice and easy to read but the dice are boring, normal white D6s.

They managed to get ‘fun dog art’ wrong which takes a lot of effort.

Spots Cards

Ease of Teaching

It’s very easy to teach. Everything is open information but the main thing is to explain the tiles.

Similar Games

Age of War has you rolling dice, but there is a point to that game. It also has much more player interaction.

Spots Review

Positives

The tile you pick on your turn is decent.

Negatives

LITTERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE!

Summary

One of the worse “games” I’ve ever played
