Horrified is a cooperative game where players work together to stop classic movie monsters from terrorising a town.
Can you survive?
Horrified Game Overview
Players take control of citizens trying to protect the town from monsters like Dracula, the Wolf Man, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
On your turn, you get a set number of actions. Each action can be spent to move, pick up items, guide a villager, trade items with another player, or use items to advance an objective.
After players take their turns, the monsters activate. They move, attack, or advance their personal threats, making the situation more dangerous as the game goes on. The goal is to keep the town under control while pushing each monster closer to defeat.
How Do You Win?
You win by completing the requirement for each monster in the game and then defeating them. If too many villagers die or players get overwhelmed, the game ends in defeat.

Main Mechanisms
It’s a cooperative action-selection and movement game with each monster acting through its own small ruleset. You gather items, complete tasks, and solve each monster’s puzzle, all while managing the random monster activations.
USP
The mix of classic movie monsters and their varied objectives gives each game a slightly different feel.
Theme
The spooky, old-movie theme comes through well, especially in the artwork and the flavour of each monster. It’s light, but it fits the tone.
Setup
Lay out the board, choose your characters, pick which monsters you’re facing, put out villagers and items, and start. Setup time depends on how many monsters you include.
Components & Artwork
The monster minis look good on the table, the bright item tokens are easy to read, and the artwork has a nice retro horror style. Everything is clear and functional.

Ease of Teaching
Very easy to introduce. The structure is straightforward: take actions, draw a monster card, deal with the effect. The only extra teaching is explaining how each chosen monster works.
Similar Games
Marvel United has that simple, cooperative game play. Any co-op in the ‘Pandemic‘ mould will have a similar shared-board teamwork feel.
Review
Positives
- Spooky, fun theme with familiar monsters.
- Co-operative play works well.
- Good variety from different characters and monsters.
Negatives
- Can feel pretty boring compared to other co-op games.
- Very open to quarterbacking, with one player directing the game.
Summary
Horrified is an accessible co-op game with a strong theme and a good range of monsters, but it doesn’t stand out in the genre and can fall flat if one player takes over.
