Pingo Pingo Card Game First Impressions

Pingo Pingo combines Snap, a Dart Gun and a CD…

This could go either way…

Your pirate ship has dropped anchor at the terrible island of Pingo Pingo. Legend says that the island is full of treasure, including the famous Golden Pineapple, but it also says that treasure is fiercely guarded by hordes of fearsome penguin warriors, some of which ride giant polar bears. That potential danger is why you’re alone in your boat, on your own but eager to take a run on the island and try your luck.

For now, only the sound of the waves and the cries of the gulls disturb the peace of this seemingly idyllic island…but as soon as you set foot in the jungle bordering the beach, the drums of war start sounding and you realize that you’ve suddenly gained the status of prey!

Everyone gets 7 life cards and the rest of the cards are in the deck and dealt to each player…

There are some standees that you set up around the room that you need to touch or shoot…

You play the CD and eventually some drums beat. This is the ‘Day Time’ music… It will change to mysterious ‘Night Time’ music and back again at intervals.

Pingo Pingo Gameplay

On your turn, you flip over the top card of your deck outwards, depending on what the card depends on what you or other players do.

If it’s a Treasure, touch it first get claim it. But, each treasure has a bright Day and a dark Night variant so you can only grab it if the right music is playing. Also, some have very subtle spiders and snakes which will cause you to take damage.

Touching a Camp card lets you steal treasure from other players, as long as you don’t touch the tent card with the photographer on it! He catches you stealing.

If you see the monkey Sorcerer touch him to gain some life back! but if you have a full life, you lose one instead!

Other actions have you getting up and doing something with those standees you set up.

If you have a bridge you have to run and touch one side of the bridge. Then, run back and touch the other and get back to your chair. Or, Grab the gun and shoot the Bear Riders. Bizarrely, at some point, you may have to run, touch the Shipwreck and come back to shoot the gigantic Space Penguin…

Another card has you taking all the played cards and dealing back out as fast as you can…

All of these events need to be completed before the soundtrack says ‘Pingo Pingo’ or you lose a life. Random yes, but this isn’t a Euro game so calm down 🙂

After 15 minutes, at the end of the soundtrack, the player with the most treasure wins.

Pingo Pingo Summary
