Game Description

Welcome to the Dungeon  is a push-your-luck dungeon delve in which 2-4 players take turns essentially daring each other to go into a dungeon with less equipment than they start off with while filling the dungeon with monsters.

Set Up

Place one Adventurer out on the table, we generally start with the suggested first time character, the Warrior. Put all his equipment face up near him.

Welcome to the Dungeon Warrior

The Warrrior and his bits.

Shuffle the monster deck.

Welcome to the Dungeon Monster Cards

Give each player a player aid, keep it white side up.

Welcome to the Dungeon Player Aide

Determine a random start player.

Game Play

Each round is played over 2 phases: The Bidding Phase and The Dungeon Phase.

Bidding Phase

On your turn either pass and drop out of the round completely or…

Draw a card from the Monster deck, then either…

Put the Monster in the Dungeon face down, and play continues.

Welcome to the Dungeon Monster in Dungeon

The player puts the monster into the Dungeon.

Place the Monster out of the dungeon, face down in front of you. If you do this you must remove one piece of the Adventurers Gear and put it in front of you. Play then continues clockwise.

Welcome to the Dungeon Monster out of the Dungeon

The player removes the monster form the Dungeon, and takes the Dragon Spear from the Warrior.

When all players but one have passed, this phase ends. The player that didn’t pass will go into the next phase…

Dungeon Phase

Add up all the HP on the Adventurer…

Welcome to the Dungeon Hero Entering Dungeon

The Warrior will go into the Dungeon with 8 HP.

Then reveal cards from the Monster deck one at a time… If you have the equipment to kill that monster, remove it without taking HP.

Welcome to the Dungeon Item Defeats Monsters

The first two monsters in the dungeon are defeated by the Torch. Orcs really don’t like light.

If you don’t have the equipment, lose HP equal to that monsters strength.

Welcome to the Dungeon Taking Damage

The third monster deals 5 points of damage to the Warrior. He’s got 3 left!

If you go through all the of the monsters in the deck without losing all of your Health, take a Success card.

Welcome to the Dungeon Success Card

If you lose all of your Health, flip your player aid to the red side. If this player aid was already red, the player is eliminated.

Welcome to the Dungeon Flipped Player Aid

If no one wins,  you play a new round with the player who just went into the Dungeon choosing the Adventurer and becoming the start player.

Welcome to the Dungeon Heroes

The Warrior, Rogue, Barbarian and Mage.

Game End

If only one player remains, or a player gets the Second Success card, they win.

Round Up

Although this is very simple, it’s very difficult! Almost every time you’re going into the Dungeon it’s because everyone else decided not to… What do they know you don’t? Or, more realistically, what have they stuck you with?

I haven’t survived a Dungeon run yet I think some tactical advice from me can probably be ignored…

But, if you drop out, stay in, add to the Dungeon, remove a piece of equipment… Every card you choose is a fight against yourself and those around you…. and it plays in like 10 minutes.

Very simple, very fun but VERY tough.

I give it 7/10
