Left 4 Dead Special Infected
Left 4 Dead is a multi player survival horror game where you have to make your way through an area to get to a safe room, avoiding hordes of zombies and ultimately escape to safety.
Anyone who loves a shooter will love this game. Team work is essential not just because of the hordes of zombies but because of the special infected. These infected are different, have their own special ability, music and telling sound effect.
They will incapacitate you if your team isn’t near by to help you out and they all have their own unique way of doing it.
This is my run down of each special infected, from easiest to hardest…
8 – Charger
You can hear it coming from a long way away and you can usually see it coming too. It charges in a straight line so its easy to dodge. If it does manage to get you it can take you a long way from your group before pounding you into the floor.
I put this last due to the ease of avoiding them in the first place.
Wait, dodge, attack.
7 – Witch
Speaking of things easy to avoid. Unprovoked, a Witch really isn’t an issue unless its in the way. If it is a few shotgun rounds to the head and it’s all over for her.
She will one hit kill though so stay alert and “lights out”.
Avoid at all costs but if you have to, shotguns to the face can put her down before she hits anyone.
6 – Spitter
Special infected with ranged attacks are harsh. Covering you in acid and hiding is annoying, especially if you’re surrounded by a horde and you can’t get out the spit. They are weak though so they die easy and you can often catch them before they catch you.
Try to kill them before they spit.
5 – Boomer
Again, weak but if they get you they make things very difficult. Boomers work best when teaming up with the other specials. Boomer bile attracts the horde to you so while its hard to see and you’re surrounded by zombies and can’t move, a Spitter can really damage you.
Shoot them before they throw up on you.
4 – Smoker
You can usually hear a Smoker a way before you can see one and they go down pretty easy. The hard part is seeing them before they see you. They drag you away from the party and can make it difficult for you to get rescued.
One head shot is enough to take one out before it starts dealing damage.
3 – Tank
The hardest to kill. They only come once per level thankfully. They take most of your health off with one hit either by a punch or a thrown boulder. take care near objects the Tank can throw at you.
Light one with a Molotov and give it the run around and it’ll go down.
2 – Hunter
Hunters are quick, hard to avoid and deal a fair bit of damage in a short amount of time. They can take down 2 people easily if you’re not working together and I just hate it when one gets you and your party has to fight their way to you.
Kill it before it leaps
1 – Jockey
These guys have an annoyingly large amount of health so killing them is difficult. They jump on you and inevitably run you around a corner or behind an object. They are very good at splitting up a party. If one of you is ‘ridden’ behind an object your team can separate a bit trying to get to you. This is when other specials attack.
Get it before it gets you.
I have to say this video is awesome! I have also played the recently released Walking Dead video game and have to say it is the first role playing game I really liked. Left For Dead 2 is also another great zombie shooter.
I think the popularity from the Zombie genre that Left for Dead has created is what pushed the Call of Duty: Black Ops franchise into having the zombie aspect included.
Left 4 Dead is definitely one of my all time fave video games.
